Plex is a media platform in and of itself, which means we need to configure a few things first to ensure you only see my, free content.
These videos are a ~1 minute apiece. The whole process should only take about 10 minutes to complete, and you won’t have to do it again.
Step 1: Accept Plex Invite and Log In
- Check your email for a message from “Plex”. It should mention an invite.
- Click on the link that says “Accept This Invitation”
- You will be prompted to login to Plex, or create an Account.
Step 2: Configure Plex Home Screen
- Because Plex is a media marketplace of its own, it will try to offer you content that I do not have. So we are going to configure the Home Screen so you only see my sources.
- First, we are going to unpin all media sources from the Home Screen that do not fall under Anthony’s Plex.
- In Plex’s left hand side bar, select More. You should see two groupings: one under Anthony’s Plex, and one just called Plex. Clicking the three dots next to an item, un-pin everything under the Plex grouping.
- Now that we’ve un-pinned everything, you should see a blank Home Screen.
- Now, we are going to pin the libraries Movies, TV, and Music under the Anthony’s Plex grouping. Once done, you will see only my content on your Home Screen.
- If you don’t configure it, trying to search for media on the Plex app will still try to return results from its market place. We only want it to search for content on my server.
- Click on the Search bar in the top. A “settings” cog should appear on the right of the search bar. Click it, and uncheck everything that is not under Media Libraries > Anthony’s Plex.
