These continued setup steps will go over a couple of frequently asked questions, so that you understand the basics of the Plex platform.
1: You DO NOT need to buy “Plex Premium”!
- Plex offers a monthly premium option called “Plex Pass”, and will probably try to sell it to you a little bit. Just ignore it. You can stream all my content for free without Plex Pass.
- Plex limits streaming on mobile phones if you do not have Plex Pass, but does not limit on TV app or desktop. I subscribe for $5 a month because as an admin, it gives me some good tools, but for users, the only major benefits are:
* Skip Intro + Skip Credits
* Downloads for offline use. (If you message me, I will send you a download link for free)
Step 2: Brief warning about using Smart TV’s built in Plex app
- The computers on Smart TVs are usually very weak, so if your TV has a built in Plex app, it will probably make Plex basically unusable.
- If you have a streaming device you connect to your TV (Roku, Apple TV, etc.), using that will work with no issues. It also, of course, works great on desktop.
