Plex Hub: Guides & FAQs

Note up top: The way I see it, the world of movie/tv streaming is moving toward a model of content over art, licensed temporarily for streaming by opaque, expensive, back room contracts that spread anything worth watching across 50 mediocre thirteen dollar apps. That’s not to say good stuff doesn’t still exist – if anything, there’s more of it than ever; it’s just a lot harder, and a lot more expensive to find. My intention is to create a free, high quality, no-ads streaming service for friends and family, in a unified location. Mediocrity just breeds more of itself, and I hope we can all subject ourselves to less of that than is absolutely necessary.
Plex does put some limitations on “free” users though, specifically in the form of mobile streaming. If the choice were up to me, that limit would not be there, I promise.

Most forces in the world, generally economically and politically, are creating the opposite of community – as a result, we are all too scared of each other. Movies help expose us to experiences which aren’t our own, and, as art, can create conversation (the first step toward building comminity?!) after the fact.
